Fearless is proud to announce the award of a 5-year development contract with the Technology Transformation Services group within General Services Administration (GSA) to run Search.gov.
For more than a dozen years, Search.gov has served as both the public’s search portal for government information and the search provider for the entire federal government. Fearless is excited to build on the work that has been done by the General Services Administration.
The GSA Search.gov platform supports nearly 2,000 search boxes on Federal websites, free of charge. It provides both critical searching capabilities to these sites and key information on trends, queries, and results for administrative users.
To maintain the capabilities currently provided and expand on this functionality, GSA required the support of a dedicated partner with a proven track record in large-scale government systems.
Team Fearless — made up of digital transformation experts experienced in providing agile software development services to a variety of Federal customers — was awarded this contract. Team Fearless is comprised of Fearless and Ad Hoc LLC.
“Citizens have issues finding information, knowing what is available, what government agency do they go to for ‘X,’ who to call for ‘Y,’” said Fearless founder Delali Dzirasa. “There are non-government pages trying to give information, but we're trying to share what the government is putting out and what we can take as truth instead of a random blog.”
"We're excited to partner with Fearless on Search.gov," said Greg Gershman, CEO and Co-founder of Ad Hoc. "Search.gov is an important part of GSA's efforts to provide a platform of core services to agencies to streamline the creation of new government digital services. In our work on HealthCare.gov and Vets.gov, we've utilized Search.gov technology to rapidly deliver new features. And we're looking forward to expanding the Search.gov footprint across government. It's particularly meaningful to me, as I worked on Search.gov as a developer, so it's great to be working again on this solution."
Providing agile digital services.
Fearless and our partner Ad Hoc will be providing digital services centered around agile:
- Software development,
- Search,
- Commercial search engine integration,
- Infrastructure monitoring and management,
- Open-source development,
- Research analytics.
As part of our contract with the GSA, Fearless will provide content support, manage system infrastructure, and introduce new features to Search.gov. We'll improve the Search.gov application, and the expanded search features and functions will respond to evolving expectations for search engines.
As a result, agency staff will eventually be able to configure the search experience they want to provide users.
Our team will also act as the support for Search.gov, providing the primary help manual and managing the system infrastructure, striving to maintain low latency and high uptimes for the site and application.
The Fearless team will also be working to contribute more open-source code to the Federal government’s repository. The Federal government has made it a policy “to release at least 20% of new custom-developed code as Open Source Software (OSS).”
Incorporating more open-source code into federal projects not only saves taxpayers money but fosters a more collaborative environment.
Giving people the information they need when they need it most.
“Fearless loves projects that directly support the public. Initiatives like Search.gov get people the information they need when they need it the most,” said Fearless partner, John Foster. “From disaster recovery help to information that helps Veterans get the information they need, providing a robust service that is easy to use is what Fearless is all about.”
Fearless and Ad Hoc are excited to add this contract to our portfolio of projects. In addition to Search.gov, Fearless and Ad Hoc are working jointly on “Blue Button” with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
