Fearless affirms its commitment to government efficiency and expands the company’s footprint with a new contract for the United States Air Force (USAF).
This week the Business and Enterprise Systems (BES) office of the USAF announced the launch of BESPIN (Business and Enterprise Systems Product Innovation). Fearless is partnering with USAF and the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce in Alabama to support new projects for the Department of Defense.
Supporting USAF's digital transformation.
Fearless was approached by the Air Force in 2019 to work alongside TechMGM, the larger tech strategy for Montgomery, AL. The USAF was in need of a digital services firm that could support a digital transformation to operate at the speed of need and to look more like a commercial software firm.
“This is an opportunity to build capabilities and to help USAF rethink how they do business, develop, and deploy business applications,” said Fearless founder Delali Dzirasa. “All of that was exciting, but what really intrigued us was the focus on the community in Montgomery, AL. The social, economic, and tech ecosystem needs closely parallel what we encounter in Baltimore. The ability to engage on all of those fronts and bring all of what we stand for into that community, in a way that was good for both Montgomery and Baltimore, is what sealed the deal for us.”
Making government technology work better for its citizens.
As founding members of the Digital Services Coalition, we're passionate about assisting the government in making its technology work better for its citizens. Our previous projects include:
- Redesigning the Small Business Administration’s website,
- Modernizing SBA’s HUBZone Certifications,
- Building software for other federal, nonprofit, city, and healthcare clients.
BESPIN signifies a major shift in how the Air Force approaches software development. The initiative pairs in-house developers with private sector developers and uses an agile development methodology in a collaborative and innovative environment. It's modeled after other successful “Software Factories” in the Air Force including Kessel Run that was launched in Boston.
BESPIN oversees the hundreds of business applications that power USAF and will also be the mobile center of excellence, leading the charge for mobile development.
As previously reported by local news outlets in Alabama, BESPIN and TechMGM will not only build products to support the men and women who protect and serve our country but also work to strengthen the community in the greater Montgomery, Alabama region. Maxwell Air Force Base is a key economic driver in the community and we aim to strengthen Montgomery’s tech ecosystem.
Fearless’ initial engagements with USAF will staff upwards of 30 people to start ramping up in 2019. We're also joined by 4 Airmen who will be embedded in Baltimore on our initial MVP teams for the next few months.
“Creating a win for both Baltimore and Montgomery is important for us. We will be working with the government and TechMGM to finalize a strategy on how to grow in both locations,” Dzirasa said. “We are currently meeting with technology, Air Force, education, and community leaders in Montgomery, AL to lay out a play and timeline on how best to expand and integrate with the location and community.”
