In our work with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) over the years, we’ve been proud to support the agency's efforts to make systems more interoperable and data more usable.
Fearless' work on CMS's Beneficiary Claims Data API (BCDA) project is a perfect example of what this can look like in practice. We're excited to continue supporting this important work on our BCDA & Data at the Point of Care (DPC) API contract.
About the BCDA and DPC APIs.
BCDA allows Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) to securely and easily access bulk Medicare beneficiary claims data. The FHIR-standard API makes claims data more usable and interoperable. As part of our work on the original BCDA project, Fearless also helped develop a pilot for the Data at the Point of Care (DPC) API. This API enables fee-for-service providers to access claims data for active patients.
Both of these APIs give providers a more complete picture of their patients' care, which helps them make informed decisions. This, in turn, helps improve patient outcomes.
About Fearless’ new BCDA & DPC API contract.
On our new contract, Fearless will build on our past work with the BCDA and DPC APIs to get the right data to the right people at the right time. We’ll provide the FHIR, data, human-centered design, and security expertise needed to support the APIs' continued growth.
Through this work, we'll help providers save time and effort, coordinate beneficiary care, and increase the quality of that care. In this way, we’ll empower healthcare providers with the data they need to deliver high-quality, value-based care.
Nichole Weems is Fearless’ Health & Sciences Portfolio Director, and she’s excited about the effect this work will have. “The health ecosystem is in dire need of interoperability,” Nichole said. “Getting the right data at the right time ensures patients receive the best care possible, regardless of their health condition. It also reduces both ACO's administrative burden and costs for the provider and the patient.”
